He enjoyed every one of his 7 grandchildren and their spouses, his 9 great-grandchildren, and his large extended family. Roy attended the Norwegian Danish Church (Central Methodist). Roy was buried at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, Washington and a memorial service was held at First Reformed Church in Oak Harbor on Monday, March 31, 2014.
After high school he drove truck on Vashon for Lande Dairy until he went to work at Associated Ship Builders on Harbor Island, earning 90 cents per hour.
